A rock worth climbing

Two hours away from Medellin, Colombia, in the small town of Guatape, there is a privately owned rock, called by the locals the rock of  El Peñól (La piedra del Peñól). The official local version is that the piedra is one of the largest rocks in the world, only second in size to the Sugar Loaf Mountain in Rio de Janeiro. This statistic is somewhat dubious and the ranking really depends on the classification – Here is a ranking that shows otherwise, for example.

The 725-steps climb to the top is not easy but the view is breathtaking, especially at sunset.
